THIS THIRD LECTURE HAS BEEN POSTPONED TILL MAY 1. AT 16:00 Weizmann Institute Three lectures on "Lace Expansion" Speaker: Gady Kozma The lectures will take place on Wednesdays from 16:00 to 18:00 in room 261 in Ziskind Building. Third Lecture: POSTPONED FROM April 24th TILL MAY 1st.. Abstract: This "minicourse" is really one long lecture. Here is an abstract: In 1985, Brydges and Spencer showed that a random simple path behaves like random walk when the dimension is at least 5. The technique employed, "lace expansion", became the main tool for analyzing probabilistic constructions in high dimensions. We will see a modern proof of this theorem that uses the many simplifications found in the time that passed. The talk is aimed at students. No special knowledge will be assumed. --------------------------------------------------------- Technion Math Net-2 (TECHMATH2) Editor: Michael Cwikel <techm@math.technion.ac.il> Announcement from: Gizel Maimon <gizel.maimon@weizmann.ac.il>
