Dear Colleagues,
Our next Colloquium in Mathematics and Computer Science will take
place on Tuesday, March 5, at 12:00.

Affiliation: Weizmann Institute, Rehovot, Israel
Title: Quasi-conformal Simplicial Maps and Applications
Date: Tuesday, March 5, 2013
Time: 12:00
Venue: Room 424/8, Science Building
Triangular and tetrahedral meshes are widespread in image and
geometry processing and frequently used as piecewise linear
representations of domains and manifolds. Yet, basic tasks, such as
construction of bounded distortion and/or bijective mappings of
meshes are in many senses unsolved problems. Better understanding of
the spaces of simplicial quasiconformal mappings of meshes will help
address these problems in a systematic way. In this talk we will
outline several observations regarding the spaces of simplicial
quasconformal mappings and show how they can used to build algorithms
that address several aspects of the mapping and related problems in
geometry processing and modeling.
Light refreshments will be served at 11:45 am. Everybody is welcome.
Looking forward to seeing you all,
Anatoly Golberg, Dmitry Goldstein, Eugen Mandrescu
