Abstract: The Jacobi ensemble is the third classical ensemble of random matrix theory: it describes the eigenvalue distribution of a form of Gaussian random matrix known as a MANOVA matrix. Matrices of this form are related to angles between random subspaces and, in particular, to discrete uncertainty principles. We present initial universality results for MANOVA matrices and for random submatrices of the discrete Fourier transform matrix. This is partially joint work with LÃ¡szlÃ³ ErdÅ~Qs.
