Mathematics colloquium
Title: Resolution of singularities
Speaker: Michael Temkin (Hebrew University)
Time: Monday, June 4, 3:30 pm
Place: Amado 232, Technion
Abstract: Resolution of singularities is an important topic of
birational algebraic geometry that has numerous applications in
algebraic geometry, complex analytic geometry, number theory, and
other fields. In this talk I will outline the history of the subject,
different approaches for resolving singularities, and the state of
the art in the field today. A special accent will be made on the
situation in characteristic zero, and functorial desingularization.
Refreshments: 3pm on 8th floor of Amado
