*=============================* | FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS SEMINAR | *=============================* Speaker: Professor Boris Rubin, Louisiana State University Title: Philomena Mader's Inversion Formulas for Radon Transforms. Date: Thursday, December 29, 2011, Time: 14:30-15:20 Place: Room 919, Amado Mathematics Building, Technion Abstract: In 1927 Philomena Mader derived elegant inversion formulas for the hyperplane Radon transform on R^n. These formulas differ from the original ones by Johann Radon (1917) and do not need Abel's integral equation or fractional powers of the minus-Laplacian. Surprisingly, these remarkable formulas have been forgotten. We generalize Mader's formulas to totally geodesic Radon transforms in any dimension on arbitrary constant curvature space. For more details see: http://arxiv.org/abs/1103.2331 or https://www.math.lsu.edu/~borisr/publications/index.html The talk will be accessible to a wide audience (no special knowledge in integral geometry will be assumed). This is a joint work with Yuri Antipov. --------------------------------------------------------- Technion Math.
