THE CANONICAL FORM OF ELEMENTS
IN GENERALIZED SMALL CANCELLATION GROUPS
The generalized small cancellation theory was developed
in the works of Novikov, Adian, Ol'shanski, Ivanov, Ossin,
Gromov, Delzant, the present speaker and others.
It gives means to construct finitely generated groups
with exotic properties.
When applying the generalized small cancellation
theory, one of the biggest difficulties is
the actual verification that a given group has
a presentation that satisfies the generalized small
The canonical form of elements provides an alternative
approach to this difficulty. When applicable, it reduces
the so called contiguity diagrams to direct contact
between the relations.
