                        PDE AND APPLIED MATHEMATICS SEMINAR

                   ============================================

DATE:     Tuesday, May  31, 2011

SPEAKER:  Matthias Keller, Germany
TITLE:    Large time behavior of heat kernels

PLACE:    Room 814, Amado Mathematics Building, Technion

TIME:     14:30

Abstract:

We discuss large time behaviour of heat semigroups (and more generally,
of positive selfadjoint semigroups). For positivity improving
selfadjoint semigroups, we show convergence of the semigroup
to the ground state and of averaged logarithms of kernels to the ground
state energy. This framework includes Laplacians on man-
ifolds, graphs and quantum graphs. (This is joint work with
Daniel Lenz, Hendrik Vogt and Radoslaw Wojciechowski)
